Fishers’ Kelli Witt and Lafayette Jefferson’s Regan Pittard shared medalist honors with 37s, but it was the 13th-ranked visiting Bronchos who came away with a seven-stroke victory Aug. 24 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference girls golf match at Stoney Creek in Noblesville.

Lafayette Jeff carded a 161 to hold off No. 26 Fishers (168), who figure to battle third-ranked defending state champion Hamilton Southeastern, No. 9 Noblesville, 12th-ranked Avon, and No. 17 Zionsville as well as the Tigers for the HCC title Aug. 31 at Bear Slide.
Witt, who played in the same group as Pittard, had a chance to take low-scoring honors outright but missed a one-foot putt for par on the final hole. Pittard’s Bronchos had to scramble just to get to the match after fighting a losing battle with the epic Hamilton County traffic.
