Staff Report
The Hoosier
Crossroads Conference firmly established itself as a power in the state
tournament by claiming FIVE sectional champions. Lafayette Jefferson, Avon,
Brownsburg, Zionsville, and Noblesville are captured titles.
Lafayette Jeff
earned its regional berth by downing conference foe McCutcheon 1-0 in the
championship match. The Bronchos had advanced with a 4-0 shutout of Rossville
in the opening round. Zionsville was even more dominant in the sectional it
hosted. The Eagles defeated Lebanon 7-0 to advance and then blanked University
6-0 in the title tilt.
Brownsburg
survived a 2-1 thriller versus Covenant Christian in round one before claiming
the crown by manhandling Tri-West 5-0. Noblesville had an easy time of things.
The highly regarded millers blanked Sheridan 5-0 in the first round and then
ousted Pendleton Heights in the championship match, 7-1. Finally, Avon blasted
Cascade 9-0 before winning the title game 3-0 over Plainfield.
Hamilton
Southeastern, Fishers, and Westfield all fed into the same sectional and, of by
the way, had to face Carmel in the process. Westfield fell 2-1 to the
Greyhounds in round one. Fishers downed HSE on penalty kicks 6-5 before falling
to Carmel in the title match 2-0. Harrison lost to West Lafayette at the Benton
Central Sectional.
Lafayette
Jeff will face the winner at Crawfordsville in a very talented West Lafayette
Regional. The other half of that bracket features undefeated Western against
West Lafayette. Brownsburg will face Park Tudor in first round regional action.
The other side of the bracket features Zionsville versus undefeated Pike.
Noblesville heads to the North Central Regional to face #16 Cathedral. The
winner likely will see #2 Carmel in the title tilt. Avon will tangle with Ben
Davis in the Center Grove Regional.
