Jeff’s Jesse Berry – the state’s seventh-leading scorer at 25.2 points per game – led all scorers with 23 points, but the Millers (4-1 overall, 1-1 in league play) took control of the contest with a 26-15 spurt in the third quarter. Jake Yeary kept Noblesville close early on by scoring 15 of his team-high 18 points in the first half.

The Millers’ win means that Fishers (4-3 overall) – a 56-35 Friday night loser at 4A No. 10 Carmel – is tied for first place in the HCC at 2-0 with Avon (4-2 overall), a 57-34 conference winner tonight over Brownsburg (2-5, 0-3).

Class 4A third-ranked Zionsville fell from the ranks of the unbeaten tonight with a 57-56 HCC loss at 4A No. 16 Hamilton Southeastern (5-1, 2-1). Those two stand tied for third in HCC play just a half game ahead of suddenly on-fire Westfield (3-2, 1-1), a 61-54 Friday night winner over visiting 2A No. 3 Tipton.

Noblesville returns to action Saturday night at Hamilton Heights (3-2), an 81-68 Friday night winner at Western (3-2). Next up for Jeff (5-2, 0-2) is a Saturday home game against 4A No. 12 Kokomo (4-0), a 66-50 Friday night winner over North Central Conference foe Marion (2-2).
